Let's face it - sculpting and creating three-dimensional is much more difficult than painting for many of my students. Especially in the beginning, because they have to get used to the techniques and the materials they are working with. This week, we are continuing to work on our Alebrije sculptures in the realm of Mexican folk art. Students are beginning how much time and work creating not only a 3-D sculpture is going to take, but how long the paper mache' process in going to take, as well.
We've gotten a good jump on our ideas this week, and many students have gone above and beyond the requirements of combining a minimum of two different animals. Many students have combined a number of animals for the sculptures, or created an animal of their own.
Check out how things are going!
