It's been awhile since pictures have been posted, however you're finally able to view some work below!
Pending administration approval, the FRHS Art Club will be going on their annual field trip to a local art museum during a school day. This year, students will have the opportunity to visit the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As of right now, the field trip is set for Thursday, May 8th and will cost $4 for each student to attend. Students will also need to bring money for lunch, as we will eat together after our museum visit.
This field trip is for paid Art Club members for the 2013-2014 school year, which currently includes 108 students. Art Club members are encouraged to attend this field trip, however participation is NOT mandatory. Permission forms and more information will be made available later this week. Please check back for details. PARENTS: PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CHAPERONING! YOU'RE ADMISSION COST AND LUNCH WILL BE COVERED! Parents of Design Students,
By this point, I've hope you've been able to receive a permission form for students to begin work on their stained glass projects. On this form, I'm asking that you give your consent for students to participate in creating a stained glass piece of artwork. I ask for this consent as students will be hand-cutting glass themselves as they work on their assignment over the next 3-4 weeks (possibly until the end of the school year). This process, if not done carefully and with caution, can cause students to cut themselves as we are working with sheets of glass and cutting them, by hand, into small pieces. The parental consent form was sent home last Monday, April 21, and I asked that these be returned by Friday, April 25. I have still not received about half of the consent forms. On this form, you'll also see that students need to bring in their own 8"x10" glass frame or bring in $6 so I can purchase frames for them. As always, please contact me should you have any questions! The parental consent form is attached with this post. Studio Art students have been working hard on their square-on-square colored pencil drawings, which are due TOMORROW (Friday, April 4). This due date was set three weeks ago, and has been in the grade book online and posted on the classroom board for the past three weeks. Look for grades to go in sometime early next week.
Art Design students are working on a choice project - which they must also submit a lesson plan-type writing assignment, explaining how they chose their work, materials and projects as well as how things were created (in a step-by-step method). Students must also come up with a handout of sorts that could eventually be given to students who may choose to create a similar project in the future. The purpose of these writing assignments is to allow students another outlet to explain their artwork and the processes behind it. This also forces students to think about their own though processes. Art Design projects are due Wednesday, April 9 and are worth 200 points, which will be close to half of the nine weeks grade! The project itself will be based off of a 100-point art project and two 50-point writing assessments. Below, you can find handouts on the choice project, as well as a SAMPLE lesson plan and a SAMPLE handout. Students are not required to complete steps B and D of the lesson plan. |
