So, today will be an attempt to better post what's going on in art classes on a daily basis (or so I hope!).
Today in class, we had a number of new things going on!
Studio Art students began working in the clay medium with their "Identity Mask Sculptures," and will continue to work on these new creations for at least two weeks. This is a new project this year, and they're learning this new process as much as I am. It's hard to believe that once their clay has been fired, students will be able to use colored pencils to actually color their masks instead of using the tedious glaze process. Pictures will be posted as the days go along. Students can find the materials needed for this project, such as handouts and worksheets, in the "Student Stuff" section of this blog.
Art Design students also began a new project today, which involves realistic drawing in the colored pencil medium. Today, students were given a practice packet to begin the process of learning how to blend and shade with colored pencils - which is NOT an easy task! Students will be choosing a word or phrase of their choice (with a minimum of seven letters), drawing that word three-dimensionally with a textual eye, and will be realistically illustrating what that word means inside of their letters. Again, pictures are to come and handouts and materials can be found in the "Student Stuff" section of this website.
Hopefully the weather is nice to us over night! The last thing we need is more time out of school. Who knows, we may have our first five-day week in months this week (fingers crossed).
Keep creating!
