Many students turned in their syllabus and rules sheet with parent signatures today already! If you have, way to go...if not, you've got until next Friday, August 30. Grades for the 10 points should go in the grade book by the end of the school day on Friday for those who have turned them in!
Today in Class:
Today in class, students learned about the importance of team work not only in athletics, school projects or art class, but in life as well.
Some classes viewed the below video on the power of teamwork. Yes, it is a simple Coca-Cola commercial...but what a great message on teamwork! (The video is located at the bottom of this post.)
The students each were given a 4x4" sheet of paper with a half-circle already printed for them. Students were then asked to turn their sheets into anything they desired. They could use the half-circle or ignore it all together. Students were able to use their choice of materials, as well. Many students chose to use colored pencils and markers, however a few delved into watercolors, crayons and oil pastels, as well!
The student work will all be placed in a mural situation and will be displayed on the bulletin board in the art room. Below is a smaller-scale example as to what the students will be creating (this is a picture taken from Pinterest).

Here are a few pictures of high school students working today during class. Please notice, some of them are using their cell phones and laptops to look up examples and find inspiration. Technology is A-OK in the art room!
Make sure you check back tomorrow or early next week to see how our collaborative short-project turned out!
Also...don't forget the syllabus sheets with parent signatures are due next Friday.
Positively Purple,
